Trade Journal 04/30/2010

Good Morning, We had three trades this morning, each with high expected movement. For the most part, that's what we got. I'm the only one in the office trading today and did well. I won two of the three trades, which put my overall total of the day at 1.5 points. This has been an excellent week for me, and I'm looking forward to next week starting with Monday. Of course, we'll let you know how we do.
Have a great weekend!

Trade Journal 04/28/2010

I do love the FOMC. But let's backtrack a little. We had the Crude Oil trade this morning at 8:30 MDT. Don got the equivalent of 2 points, Steff got 1 point, but the people who attended the Trading Arcade all averaged 1.5 points. It was a very good Crude Oil day. Onto the FOMC at 12:15 MDT! It didn't start out with massive movement but a few minutes into it it sure got exciting. I got 3 points, Don got 2 and Jerry got 1. Steff didn't trade. Overall, a good trading day. We hope that you all did well, too.
Tomorrow we have a free Introduction Seminar in South Jordan at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300 at 10:00 a.m. MDT. Chris Pelissie will be teaching that seminar and we appreciate him filling in for us. Jerry and I will be out of town the rest of this week but Steffany and Don will send out stats since the balance of the week still has several good announcement times.
Attached is May's Boot Camp schedule. Please contact Lauren to get signed up at lauren@theexchangeut.com. Remember, once you've paid you're welcome to attend Boot Camp as many times as you would like to. Several people attend the whole course in the beginning and then retake parts of it when they decide to go live just to make sure they haven't missed anything. The cost is $249 for live classes and $199 for the webinar version.
This week's Long and Short of It talks about the 6 rules of trading and why some traders do so well and others do not. The Two Cents answers "Where's Bobbie?" but also gives you one of the coolest card tricks I've ever seen (a big Thank You to Mike Sorenson for divulging a 15 year well-kept secret): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TWCBVRt0hM
Have a good rest of the day, Amy

Good Morning. We had our first trade of the week this morning on Consumer Confidence. I got 1.5 points, Jerry got 1 point, Steff got .75 points and Don got .5 points. This is always an unusual week because of the FOMC announcement tomorrow but there is typically great movement, just difficult to predict. I am excited about tomorrow and will keep you posted.
We have our Trading Arcade for the Crude Oil announcement. If you are a Market Mover Trader and would like to come and learn how to trade this particular announcement you are welcome to attend. Sometimes it's just helpful to be in the same room with other traders and hear how things are going for them and what strategies they prefer. If you are interested then we'll need you to be at our South Jordan location by 8:00 a.m. MDT tomorrow morning with your own computer. Our address is 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. We would love to see you there.
Tomorrow is also our Orem Introduction Seminar at 10:00 a.m. MDT. All are welcome to attend and learn more about Market Mover Trading and The Exchange. Our address at that location is 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300.
Until tomorrow- Amy

Trade Journal 04/23/2010

Good late Friday afternoon -
We did trade this morning and pulled some good numbers from the Durable Goods and New Home Sales announcements. I'm just late in reporting. Don got 1.375 points, Jerry got 1.75 points and I got 1 point.
Next Monday there aren't any trades but we'll start again on Tuesday and then we have my favorite announcement - the FOMC on Wednesday. We will certainly stay in touch.
Have a great weekend, Amy

Good Morning. We had two announcement times this morning and both had movement. Steffany and I got 1.25 points, Don wasn't able to get in, and Jerry got the high of the day with 2 1/4 points. Yes, you heard that right, Jerry is back trading. Very exciting.
We have a free Introduction Seminar today at 10:00 a.m. MDT in South Jordan at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. All are invited and welcome to come to learn more about Market Mover Trading and The Exchange. Also, we will be teaching class 3 and 4 of our regular Boot Camp next Monday, April 26th starting at 9:00 a.m. MDT. We've had requests to have these 2 classes taught on a Monday so if you are one of those individuals please feel free to contact Lauren Harris at lauren@theexchangeut.com with any questions. We will have our regularly scheduled Boot Camp starting with Class 1 and 2 on Wednesday, April 28th and class 3 and 4 on Thursday, April 29th.
We also have two more sets of announcements tomorrow at 6:30 and 8:00. I'll send out more stats then.
Have a wonderful day, Amy

We got to trade today! Yahoo. Steffany conducted our Trading Arcade today on Crude Oil. It is a very different animal then our normal announcement trades and we had several people at the arcade, ready to learn. We did have mixed results but I believe most of those who traded either won completely or lost their initial trade but then won a second trade. I got the equivalent of 1.5 points and Steffany pulled a point, but it did take her a while to get out. It was really nice to meet some new traders at the arcade and hope that you will be able to attend in the future.
We have a free Introduction Seminar tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. MST in South Jordan. That address is 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300 and all are welcome to attend and ask questions.
We also have our Weekly Long and Short of It Today. Steffany and Josh (filling in for a voice-ailing Don) go over the number one rule - Stick To Your Plan. Sometimes there's a temptation to get into trades when you're not educated on how to trade that way. Their advice is timely and valuable especially as we head into a great week next week with the 45 day FOMC announcement. My favorite! The Two Cents asks "Where's Bobbie?" with a $25 gift card up for grabs. Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K2V6knEA1s

Happy Trading, Amy

No trades today. But I still wanted to mention that we are having our Trading Arcade in our South Jordan office tomorrow at 8:30 for the Crude Oil announcement. If you would like to trade that announcement with us then feel free to come at 8:00 to get set up. Our address is 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. We would love to be able to teach you more about this announcement. It's one of Steffany's favorites.
We also have our free Introduction Seminar tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. MST in our Orem office. That address is 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300. All are invited for that, as well.
Have a great Tuesday and we'll send stats out tomorrow.
Thank you, Amy

Trade Journal 04/19/2010

I have to fess up. We were out of town this weekend and I didn't look at the Market Mover Trading calendar because I assumed we didn't have a trade this morning. I was wrong. We had an 8:00 trade that actually had some good movement. Needless to say, I didn't trade even though I was here because I wasn't prepared. But Don and Steffany did and they both pulled half a point each. This is doubly disappointing to me because there really aren't any trades tomorrow so I'll have to wait until Wednesday before my trading week begins. So word to the wise, don't assume and check the calendar even when you think you don't have to.
I will send out an email tomorrow just as a reminder of the Trading Arcade and our Wednesday Introduction Seminar in Orem but otherwise I won't have stats to report again until Wednesday morning.
I do hope you have a good rest of the day, Amy

Trade Journal 04/16/2010

Good late morning. We had our Breakfast Friday so I'm late in getting this out to you. We did have some good trades this morning but I did miss getting into the 6:30 trade, which from the looks of it, wasn't a bad thing. I did make half a point on the 7:55 trade. Don traded this morning and got a quarter of a point. His Global Futures server went down 2 minutes before the 6:30 a.m. trade so he didn't get in that one, either.
We want to thank everyone who attended yesterday's Social Forum and hope that you got some good information about Crude Oil and multiple announcement interpretation. We also had a good discussion about limiting slippage and how to overcome difficult losses. It's always nice to see you and we're already looking forward to May.
Boot Camp is on Monday and Tuesday of next week and anyone who is a full Market Mover trader is welcome to attend. The class is $249 live and $199 via webinar and both start at 9:00 a.m. MST at our South Jordan office at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. You do not have to register ahead of time and are invited to attend whenever you can. Once you have signed up you are able to take the class as many times as you would like and we are always interested in your feedback on how we can improve. You do not have to take the classes all at once since they are during the day and may be difficult for you to take that much time off. We will work with your schedule as much as possible.
We hope you have a wonderful and warm weekend, Amy

Trade Journal 04/15/2010

Good Morning -
We had some great trades this morning. Steffany got 1.5 points (she also got half a point on yesterday's 12:00 Beige Book announcement and was the only one in our office who traded that), I pulled 1.25 points, and Don got a quarter point.
We do have our 10:00 free Introduction Seminar this morning at our South Jordan location at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300 taught by Chris Pelissie and we thank him for filling in for us. We're filming our TV commercial this morning and it's called us away from the office for a couple of hours.
Our monthly Social Forum is also today from 4:00 to 6:00 this afternoon at our South Jordan office. We'll be zoning in on the Crude Oil announcements and then doing some trade recaps of multiple announcement times because sometimes mixed news can make the market behave oddly (oddly for us, perfectly normal for the market). In any case, we feel it's valuable information to go over. This event is for all full Market Mover Traders whether you know us or not, you're all welcome. And it's very casual, very fun and you're welcome to stay for fifteen minutes or for the whole two hours, whatever works best for you.
We have two more sets of announcements tomorrow morning and we'll report on those then.
Have a sunny tax day -Amy

Trade Journal 04/14/2010

Good Morning.
We had some good announcements this morning and here are our results. Steff got the high of the day with a combined 2 3/4 points, I got 1.5 points and Don got 1/4 of a point. We had one of our largest Trading Arcades this morning and with only a couple of exceptions (one being a break even) everyone won. We still have the Beige Book announcement today at 12:00 MST and will send out those results tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow we have our 10:00 free Introduction Meeting at our South Jordan location. The address is 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. All are encouraged to attend.
We also have our monthly Social Forum from 4:00 to 6:00 tomorrow afternoon. This is a casual event for all full Market Mover Traders to come and talk with each other. We're going to concentrate on the Crude Oil announcements as well as general announcement interpretation - especially when there's multiple announcements coming out at the same time. We have several new recorded trades that we will be going over as examples. You're welcome to attend the entire two hours or just stop by for 15 minutes, whatever works best for your schedule. We always have good food and great people for you to meet so we would encourage you to attend this free event and become a better MMT trader.
Our weekly Long and Short of It gives you insightful advice on how to train yourself to hold to your rules and disciplines. If you've ever asked yourself "Why do I keep doing this even though I know I shouldn't!" this is a timely episode for you. Good Tuesday Morning-
Amy is out today so I will be giving you the stats for today. This morning we had 2 low impact trades at 6:30 Don and I watched the news but did not get in. The 8:00 trade was also a low impact, I was the only one that traded and I made a .50 point. The rest of the week is a busy trading week, so we hope to have more stats for you in the upcoming days.
We have two introductory seminars this week. We have one tomorrow(Wednesday) in our Orem office at 10:00 A.M. located at 1411 West 1250South, Suite 300. The first trade of the day is at 6:30 A.M please be at our south Jordan location30 min. prior so you can get fully set up before the trade. We will also trade the 8:00 trade and the Crude Oil trade at 8:30 on the Crude Oil index.
Join us for our next Social Forum this Thursday April, 15th from 4:00- 6:00 at our South Jordan office. Network with other Market Mover Traders. Trade Journal 04/08/2010

Good Morning. We had the Unemployment announcement this morning. Steffany made 3/4 of a point, I made 1 point and Don has been having issues with his trading software and wasn't able to execute a trade. We have one announcement tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. MST but it is considered low impact and I'm not sure I'll trade it live. If I do I'll send out an email with stats, if not we'll start again next week. In direct contrast to the light trading schedule of this week, next week promises to be chock full of some great trades.
We have an Introduction Seminar Today at 10:00 a.m. MST at our South Jordan location at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. Please feel free to attend and ask questions and find out more information about Market Mover Trading and The Exchange.
Have a great day, Amy

We had the Crude Oil announcement this morning which yielded our Trading Arcade Traders a great education on how to effectively trade that specific announcement. Steffany got a point and a half and I watched because I haven't yet learned how to trade it. But I'm going to try it for the first time next Wednesday. It has beautiful movement. The contracts are more than the S&P 500 and you would definitely want to practice it before going live. It's one of the trades we always do on Wednesdays with the Trading Arcade and again, would encourage any MMT trader who is interested to attend.
Tomorrow we have our Market Mover Trading Introduction Meeting at our South Jordan office at 10:00 a.m. MST. It's located at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300.
Wednesdays have now become our only Long and Short of It day so you'll definitely want to watch since the information will be condensed and highly valuable. This week's episode finishes up with part II of Figure Background Perception and how just the awareness of this can make you a more effective trader. The Two Cents shows you how to make jewelry. Guys, your girls will be stunned and amazed if you can whip up earrings for them. You'll never lack for a birthday, anniversary, or Valentine's Day gift again. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySiEW0fLMDA

We had the FOMC release their minutes at noon MST today. There was good movement. We had four Boot Camp student traders who traded with Steffany and they all won. Steffany didn't trade because she was making sure everyone was set up correctly in her class. Don and I didn't trade, either.
We will NOT be having an Introduction Seminar tomorrow in Orem as we typically do. But we will return to our normal schedule next week in Orem. We will, however, still have the Introduction Seminar in South Jordan on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. MST at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. All are welcome to attend and we appreciate the great attendance we've been having the past few months.
We will be having our Trading Arcade tomorrow for the 8:00 a.m. MST Crude Oil announcement in our South Jordan office. You do need to be here at 7:30 a.m. with your computer so we can help you get set up and go over the Crude Oil index, which is different than the S & P Index that we typically trade on. If you are a full Market Mover Trader you are invited to attend, regardless of whether you've taken the Boot Camp or not. This is open to everyone who is involved with MMT.
Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise have a great rest of your day.
Thanks, Amy

Trade Journal 04/05/2010

Good Morning. We hope you all had a nice holiday weekend.
There were two announcements this morning, both at 8:00 a.m. MST. I got half a point, Steff broke even and Don is down half a point. We have a pretty light week as far as trades go but we will make sure to let you know our stats on everything we do trade. Tomorrow, for instance, the only trade recommended by Market Mover Trading is the FOMC Meeting Minutes that comes out at noon MST. It's considered a medium impact so it will be worth trading for us. We will also have our Boot Camp classes in session tomorrow at noon so for those attending students that wish to trade it we will help them with that announcement.
Speaking of Boot Camp, we've had a tremendous amount of success and only had positive feedback from every student who has attended since we started in January. As I mentioned in previous emails we have our students fill out anonymous reviews and they have, without fail, all given the Boot Camp wonderful reviews. Don Downing and Steffany Hamilton are great teachers and we are genuinely here to help each student learn and master the Market Mover Trading strategies. You will not be sorry for attending this class and the $250 fee will certainly make up for itself when you go live and are a more successful trader because of it. Also, remember that once you've paid for Boot Camp you can attend it as many times as you would like to. Please contact Lauren Harris for more information and to sign up. Her phone is 801-617-8109 and her email is lauren@theexchangeut.com. I've attached an April Boot Camp calendar.
We are going to be doing The Long and Short of It only on Wednesdays only moving forward. The reason for this is so that we can give you more detailed information in a little bit longer segments. We're going for quality over quantity while still making it entertaining and informative.
Lastly, Dawn Thompson in Las Vegas is holding a Market Mover Introduction Seminar this coming Saturday, April 10th. They will be having drawings and cash prizes but you have to be present to win. If you live in Nevada or know someone who does who may be interested then please feel free to forward this information: INTRO PRESENTATION – April 10th at 1pm 8880 W Sunset Road, Suite 290 Las Vegas, Nevada 89148. You can also contact Dawn directly at dawnt888@yahoo.com with any questions.
Until tomorrow, Amy

Trade Journal 04/01/2010

Good Afternoon.
We had a few announcements this morning but with mixed results. I did trade the first announcement but stayed in for a longer period of time so I didn't trade the 8:00 because I was still in my earlier trade. Something not recommended but it does happen to me every once in a while. I did finally garner a point. Don broke even and Steffany got a quarter point. We won't be trading tomorrow because it is a holiday and the trading floors are closed. The electronic trading platforms will still be open but we figure it will be a very odd day so we're planning on staying out.
Today's Long and Short of It starts a very interesting discussion on "figure/background" and is the first of two parts on this interesting subject. The Two Cents gives you This Day In History which, of course, is April Fool's Day. Pam gives you a brief history as well as some of the most notorious April Fool's jokes ever pulled off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whNdh6MUTVw
Thanks, Amy
