Trade Journal 01/29/2010
Today there were 3 different times for announcements and they were all great trading opportunities. Most of our trading staff is off on Friday's but Macey pulled 1.5 points (15%) and I got 3.75 points (37.5%) from all of our trades today. Chris P. pulled 3.25 points (32.5%) and Genn pulled 2 points (20%) this morning, both other Market Mover Traders. It was a very good week for MMT trading and we look forward to the next. As a recap, for the week I made 10 combined points which is a 100% return on the amount of contracts I was trading.
We hope you have a good weekend and don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions about either Market Mover Trading or The Exchange.
Thanks, Amy

We had a great FOMC trade yesterday here at The Exchange. It's crazy how the market moves even when there is virtually no change to the Fed rate, but who are we to argue? So we'll start with the FOMC stats first: Josh made 3 points, I made 2 points, Lindsey made half a point and Don made a quarter of a point. We had a lot of other Marker Mover traders send their stats yesterday after the FOMC and here are those figures, too: Kevin 3.5 points, Ned 1.75 points, Jean 5.5 points, Chris P. 2.5 points, Bob 2 points, Chris S. 4 points, Dawn 5 points. Remember each point represents 10% so in Dawn's case she made 50% off of her investment in that one FOMC announcement, and Jean made 55%! Only 44 more days to go until the next one.
This morning there were three announcements at 6:30 MST. Don made 1.75 points, Josh and I made 1.5 points, Macey made 1.25 and Lindsey made 1. There are more announcements tomorrow so we'll keep you posted.
We have two free Introduction Seminars today in South Jordan at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. The first seminar starts at 10:00 a.m. MST and the second at 7:00 p.m. MST. Please email Lauren@theexchangeut.com or call 877-747-3450 to register.
Lastly, today's Long and Short of It covers "Points" and how to accurately break those down for either your profits or losses. And The Two Cents follows a mystery gadget to its true identity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft2quSWmMr4

Trade Journal 01/27/2010
This is the day we wait 45 days to roll around. There were two other announcements this morning on New Home Sales and Crude Oil. We only traded the 8:00 MST New Home Sales announcement. Don got .25 points (2.5%), Steff got .75 points (7.5%), Macey, Lindsey and I all got 1 point (10%) and Josh got 1.25 points (12.5%). But the big announcement starts this afternoon at around 12:15. That's when Ben Bernanke, The Fed Chairman, announces information from the two day meeting he's just finished and decides if they're going to raise interest rates or keep it status quo. The last 3 times he gave this announcement it stayed status quo, but the market didn't care - it still moved very wildly on just the information that everything stayed the same. No one knows for sure before the 12:15 announcement what Benanke will say, but large movement is still anticipated regardless. We'll let you know our stats tomorrow morning.
Today we have a free Introduction Seminar in Orem at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 1411 West 1400 South, Suite 300. We also have a live webinar today at 2:00 p.m. MST. We will also have two more tomorrow at our South Jordan location at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. You can email lauren@theexchangeut.com or call 877-747-3450 to register for any of these seminars.

It's been a while since I've explained how points work: each contract on the S&P 500 Mini is $500. Every point of movement on the S&P represents 10% of how many contracts you were trading. For instance if I were trading 5 contracts that would equal $2,500 (5 x $500 = $2,500). My half point win would be 5% of that $2,500 which would be $125.00 (minus commissions to the brokerage which in my case would be $24.00 once you're trading live). The profit is completely scalable depending on how many contracts you're trading. Please let me know if you have any questions on this.
The Long and Short of it today talks about emergency procedures to have on hand if something were to ever happen to your power, Internet connection, etc. if you were in a trade. While this doesn't happen a lot, it does happen and you don't want to be unprepared for when it does. Steffany and Josh give you some great details on what to do in advance. The Two Cents covers our Social Forum from last week which we hope is very helpful to all of you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEqbTyVUZ0c

Lovely day for trading. We've had two good announcement times already today and here are our stats:
Lindsey got 2.75 points (27.5%), Macey got 2.45 (24.5 %), I got 2.25 points (22.5%), Josh got 2 points (20%), Steff got 1.61 points on a scale out (16.1%), and the high honor for the day goes to Don who played aggressively on the corrections and got 4.75 (a whopping 47.5% return on his contracts!) It was a great day with everyone trading and everyone winning. I love those days.
We have another stat to give and that's concerning Ned Warner. He went live today (a great day for it) and earned 2.25 points (22.5%). Awesome job! Ned came from the options trading world but has really taken to the Market Mover strategies and is doing very, very well.
Today we have two live Introduction Seminars in our South Jordan office at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. We also have our Social Forum this afternoon for all Market Mover Traders from 4:00 to 6:00 at the same address. Remember, you don't have to stay for the whole time and are welcome to arrive as your schedule permits. This is a casual atmosphere that is really meant to invite conversation and the sharing of experiences and information. We are excited to see many of you that we haven't been able to see since our last Forum.
The Long and Short of It today covers details on our Boot Camp and The Two Cents introduces you to our staff:

There was a low impact trade this morning and here are our results: Don and Lindsey both pulled a quarter of a point. We had a Boot Camp student come in to trade with me today so Jeff and I both pulled .75 points. Josh ended up losing and Steffany and Macey didn't trade because they didn't see much movement. Tomorrow and Thursday there are some high impact trades so we'll have those results for you in the coming days.
We have three free Introduction Seminars tomorrow, two in Orem at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300. The third seminar is a live webinar at 2:00 MST. You can register for any of these seminars by calling 877-747-3450 or by emailing Sydney@theexchangeut.com.
This Thursday, Jan. 21st, we are having our monthly Social Forum at our South Jordan location (10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300) from 4:00 to 6:00. This is for all Market Mover Traders who have already joined to come and talk with other MMT traders about strategies, concepts, psychology and overall experiences. It is casual, friendly and food oriented. You can stay for as little or as long as you would like. We also have the great honor of having Jason Anderson, one of the two founders and owners of Market Mover Trading, attending part of this event to meet and talk with you in person. We're appreciative of his time and know how busy this is so it will be a great treat to have him. If you would like to attend this free event you can email lauren@theexchangeut.com to RSVP. We encourage you to take advantage of this time to brainstorm with other MMT traders and utilize what they've already learned to help you become a better trader. We look forward to seeing you there -

As with most newly starting companies we are subject to change. Over the weekend we had time to think over our Boot Camp pricing and we have decided to change (for the time being) the Boot Camp price to $249.00. Quite honestly it's more important to us to have people attend these classes then feel prohibited by the $495 price. It helps you because the price is lowered, it helps us because we fill up our classes. Our goal is aligned with Market Mover Trading in that we want to put a "trader in every home". We also want all Market Mover Traders to have access to a live classroom setting if that's something that interests them. The Exchange's Boot Camp is a very helpful resource for brand new traders who are wanting to learn how to trade in addition to understanding the nuances and strategies provided by Market Mover Trading. Trading is a skill and like all skills it requires time and effort to understand and get better. That's what the Boot Camp is designed to do, help you start and refine the skill. The Market Mover strategies are worth their weight in gold and we want to make sure you completely understand and absorb them. The ability to make great supplemental income is highly likely through Market Mover Trading and we want to get you there as quickly and effectively as possible.
If you would like to sign up for our Boot Camp please call 877-747-3450 or email sydney@theexchangeut.com.
We have a great Long and Short of It today that goes over regulation on the markets and The Two Cents has a timely message about Martin Luther King Day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVujEG0CCQA
Please let us know if you have any questions and we'll touch base tomorrow.

Most of our trading staff doesn't work on Fridays so it was only Macey and myself trading at our office this morning. There was good movement off the various announcements: Macey got 1.32 points (this is his average since he used different amounts of contracts on his three trades and he also used a scale out exit strategy - but it still amounts to a 13.2% win) I got .75 points (a 7.5% return). For the week we're in the positive and very happy to see the volume returning to a more normal range.
Monday is a holiday so there won't be any trades but we'll start up again on Tuesday.
We hope you have a safe and good weekend -Amy

I mentioned that there was a Beige Book announcement yesterday at noon. We were teaching module 1 of The Boot Camp but we asked everyone who had brought a computer with them to trade so they could put into practice what they were learning. Every single student won, some multiple times on the same announcement. It was wonderful to watch people who had never before traded, who perhaps still didn't understand entirely what they were doing, still win. That's the power of Market Mover strategies with the hands-on help of the Boot Camp. We would love to help you learn to trade, especially if you've never traded before. Feel free to go to our website at www.thexchangeut.com to find out more information or to call us at 877-747-3450 so we can talk to you in person about announcement trading.
We have our final free Introduction Seminars of the week today in our South Jordan office at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. We wholly encourage you to attend if you have any questions or would like to find out more details about what we're doing. You can register for either of these seminars by emailing sydney@theexchangeut.com or calling 877-747-3450.
Today's Long and Short of It is dedicated solely to "slippage". This is something we, as traders, mostly want to avoid but in The Two Cents we learn that sometimes, when the stars align, it can actually work in your favor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRuDHOs7ctM

We had a Crude Oil announcement this morning at 8:30 MST. Macey had a great day and was actually trading on the Crude Oil index instead of the S&P. He was able to pull the equivalent of 2 points even though it's a little bit different because the index is different. Steffany, Josh and I all traded on the S&P 500 index and Steff and I pulled a half a point, Josh pulled .75 points. So a very good morning for all. There is another announcement at noon today - the Beige Book. This is an unusual trade that we've had mixed luck with in the past but I'll let you know tomorrow how we did.
Today we have three free Introduction Seminars, two in our Orem office at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300 and a webinar at 2:00 MST. You can register for these seminars by emailing sydney@theexchangeut.com or by calling 877-747-3450. The live seminars are typically 45 to 60 minutes long and the webinar usually lasts about 30 minutes. Many of our staff traders have changed schedules and are not here on Fridays so that just left Macey and me to trade this morning. But it was a GREAT morning for trading. We both both won our 6:30 Unemployment trade, each pulling 1.25 points (12.5%). We left money on the table, certainly, since there was such a huge movement, but we were happy to see that things were returning back to pre-December movements. I've had several emails from other Market Mover Traders this morning and so far the most points pulled was 4 on the initial movement and then a point on a correction for a total of 5 points (50%!). Those trades belong to Dawn Thompson from Las Vegas - she did great this morning.
We didn't trade the 8:00 because there just didn't seem to be the movement. We do have an unusually late trade later today but we may just paper trade that one since it's a medium impact and may not have the momentum that this morning did.
We hope you have a good weekend and we look forward to next week's announcements -

Another mixed day for us at the South Jordan office. The 6:15 ADP announcement came out with some negative and some positive news. Everyone but me went in short and ended up losing. I stayed in it for several minutes and came out with a half point win, but it still wasn't the movement we were hoping to see. At 8:00 there was another announcement which actually came in 9 minutes early at 7:51 a.m. MST. We're still finding out what happened and will relay that information when we get it. Some of us were at our computers and saw it happen but because we had never seen an announcement come in that early before we were more startled than anything. Josh was savvy enough to get in on the correction and got .75 points.
Today we have three Introduction Seminars. We have two live seminars at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in our Orem location at 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300. We would encourage anyone who is interested in learning more to attend one of these free 45-60 minute seminars that will answer any questions you have about Market Mover Trading.

There were two announcements this morning, both at 8:00 a.m. Don and I got 1.25 points (12.5% return), Josh, Lindsey and Steffany all got .75 points (7.5%). We are very happy for the New Year and to have the professional traders back in the market, helping the volume considerably. I think we'll have a great week to start the New Year.
We are back to our regular schedule this week at The Exchange and will have an Introduction Seminar on Wednesday, January 6th at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 1411 West 1250 South, Suite 300. We'll also have a 2:00 MST webinar that day. Then on Thursday, January 7th we'll have a 10:00 a.m. and a 7:00 p.m Introduction Seminar at our South Jordan location at 10813 S River Front Parkway, Suite 300. You can register for any of these seminars by calling 877-747-3450 or by emailing Sydney at sydney@theexchangeut.com. There is no obligation to attend and if you are interested in how you can make 2010 a very profitable year for you then we encourage you to see what Market Mover Trading is all about.
We also start our new year of Exchange Boot Camps this week and are happy to provide a schedule to you for the rest of this month. These are very helpful hands-on classes that will help jump start your Market Mover Trading career. We will help you set up and understand your trading software and the other websites you'll be using each day you trade. We will also help you incorporate the very valuable strategies, teach you how to interpret announcements, and give you guidance on how to become a successful Market Mover Trader through journal keeping and mental discipline. The courses are broken up into four (3) hour modules that you can take at your own pace. The course is $495 and you must be a Market Mover Trader to attend since it is their strategies and principals we are teaching. We are the only approved Market Mover Trading Boot Camp and are eager to help you become the best trader you can be, even if you are coming from zero experience just like we did last year. We will have The Long and Short of it out around 10:00 MST and I will forward it then to you. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day and here's to a great 2010.
